Sea Chanteys and Tall Tales   Salty Dawg Saloon

Local musicians perform nautical numbers and lead patrons in sea chanteys.

BBC Documentary Screening   Kachemak Bay Campus, KPC

Screening of the upcoming BBC "Timewatch" series documentary on maritime wrecking. Join KPC's Kenai River Campus history professor and shipwreck expert Dr. Cathryn Pearce for this special viewing and listen to her as she shares her experience with the project.

Kayaking and whale-watching; Ted Pedersen's Alaska sea adventures; and a presentation by historic Alaska shipwreck diver Steve Lloyd, including the first public showing of film footage of his recent discovery, the 1868 Torrent shipwreck.

Learn to dress for immersion and establish a foundation for safe sea kayaking skills.

Personal Sea Kayaking Skills II    Pre-registration required
Friday-Saturday  9am-5pm    $125 plus tax, youth $105 plus tax
Build on your skills foundation to develop a repertoire of useful maneuvers to increase your confidence and fun on the water.

Sea Kayak Rescue   Pre-registration required
Sunday  9am-5pm    $125 plus tax, youth $105 plus tax
Learn and practice a whole array of sea kayak rescues for many different applications.

Paddling Sea Kayaks in Current  Pre-registration required
Monday  9am-5pm    $165 plus tax, youth $155 plus tax
Learn causes and prediction of tides and currents. Learn fundamental of kayak control in current and develop group awareness and safety skills. Practice paddling in fast tidal stream current.

The Crossing, Open Water Skills    Pre-registration required
Tuesday  9am-5pm    $135 plus tax
Develop open water paddling skills while crossing Kachemak Bay twice on a day trip.

Water taxi to Otter Cove for a guided paddling trip, all kayak gear and instruction included. Bring your own lunch and drinks. Return to Homer Harbor at 5pm.

Day on the Bay    Mako's Water Taxi, Homer Spit
Daily  8:30am-4:30pm    $200 per person, limit 10
Water taxi through the Herring Islands to Kasitsna Bay for guided kayaking. After paddling, tour Seldovia and return to Homer on a scenic flight with Smokey Bay Air. Package includes lunch and all transportation.

Elephant Rock Kayak Trip    True North Kayak Office, Homer Spit
Daily  8:30am-2:30pm    $125 per person, limit 12
Learn paddling skills while winding through craggy rock arches and keeping an eye out for wildlife. Trip includes water taxi, lunch, guide and all equipment.

Water taxi to Otter Cove or other launch sites for paddling on your own. Bring your own kayak and gear, or rent.

Paddle for Ski Trails    Meet at Homer Harbor Ramp 2
Friday  6pm departure    $100 per person, limit 12
A guided evening paddle, with proceeds benefitting local x-country ski trails. Bring your own food.

Paddle to the Stars    Meet at CACS yurt, Harbor Ramp 2
Saturday & Sunday  check-in by 7:30am    $135 per person, limit 18
Guided natural history tour of Peterson Bay includes a half day each of hiking and kayaking. No kayaking experience necessary. Returns to Homer Harbor at 6pm.

Paddler's Dream    Homer Ocean Charters Office, Homer Spit
Daily starting Friday  check-in by 11:30am    $100 per person Experienced kayakers only
Narrated Gull Island Cruise to the Rookery Restaurant for lunch. Pick up kayak and gear for paddling on your own. Return to Homer Harbor in the evening. Dinner and/or cabin extra.

Seldovia Shuttle   Rainbow Tours Office, Homer Spit
Daily starting Saturday  check-in by 8:30 am  $35 per person
Boat arrives in Seldovia Village at 10am. Spend the day on your own touring Seldovia. Boat departs Seldovia at 5 pm; returns to Homer Harbor at 6pm.

Whale Watching    Rainbow Tours Office, Homer Spit
Daily starting Saturday  check-in by 8:30am    $125, juniors $95, seniors $110
Narrated nature cruise focusing on the whales of Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet. Returns to Homer Harbor at 6pm. Maximum number: 90.
